• Stand up for what is right, even if it means going against the tide or facing criticism.
• Maintain your values, even in the face of temptation or pressure from others.

In a culture that often glorifies self-promotion and arrogance, God calls us to humility. The Bible teaches that those who humble themselves will be exalted (Matthew 23:12). Humility doesn’t mean thinking less of yourself—it means thinking of yourself less and putting others’ needs first.

Who You Are in Christ: Discovering Your True Identity

Hey there, friend! Have you ever wondered who you really are or what makes you special? Well, I have something amazing to share with you: You are wonderfully made by God! That’s right—your true identity comes from knowing that you are a child of God, created in His image, and loved beyond measure. Let’s take a look at what it means to discover your true identity in Christ Jesus.

What Does It Mean to Have an Identity in Christ?

Your identity in Christ means that, as a believer in Jesus, you belong to God, and He sees you through His love. This means who you are isn’t just about how you look, what you do, or what other people say about you. It’s about who God says you are. And guess what? He thinks you are AMAZING!

In the Bible, God gives us many promises about who we are in Christ. When we understand these truths, we begin to see ourselves the way God sees us—full of purpose, value, and love.

1. You Are a Child of God!

One of the most amazing truths in the Bible is that when you believe in Jesus, you become a child of God. That means you are part of God’s family, and nothing can ever change that! In 1 John 3:1, it says:
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”
Isn’t that awesome? Being a child of God means you are loved unconditionally, and you have a special place in His heart!

2. You Are Loved Beyond Measure.

Sometimes, it’s easy to feel like we don’t fit in or wonder if anyone truly loves us. But guess what? God’s love for you is greater than any love in the world! Romans 8:39 says:
“Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
No matter what happens, God’s love is ALWAYS with you. You are never alone, and you are always loved, no matter what!

3. You Are Forgiven.

When we make mistakes, it can sometimes feel like we’re not good enough. But the good news is that because of Jesus, we can be forgiven! Through His death on the cross, Jesus took all our sins and gave us a fresh start. In 1 John 1:9, it says:
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
No matter what, God forgives you, and you can always come to Him with a clean heart.

4. You Are a New Creation.

When you accept Jesus into your heart, you are made brand new! This means that your past mistakes or things that make you feel sad or ashamed don’t define you. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
This means you have a fresh start, and you can live each day knowing you are a new person in Christ!

5. You Are Chosen and Purposeful.

God has a special plan for your life. You were created on purpose, for a purpose! In Ephesians 2:10, it says:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
That means God has big plans for you, and He has already set things in motion for you to do amazing things in His name. Your life matters, and you have a special purpose in God’s kingdom!

How to Embrace Your Identity in Christ

Now that you know who you are in Christ, here are some fun ways to embrace your true identity:

• Pray and Talk to God Every Day: Prayer is one way you can build a relationship with God and talk to Him about anything. Ask Him to help you see yourself the way He sees you and to remind you of His love.
• Read Your Bible: The Bible is full of reminders of who you are in Christ. Find verses that speak to your heart and memorize them, so you can always remember how special you are to God!
• Be Kind to Yourself: Sometimes, it’s easy to forget how loved and valuable we are, especially when we face challenges. But remember, God loves you just as you are. Don’t be hard on yourself—know that you are perfect in His eyes.
• Share God’s Love with Others: As a child of God, you are part of His family. Share His love with others by being kind, caring, and encouraging. When you do, you’re showing them who God is and how much He loves them, too!

Final Thought: You Are Who God Says You Are

The world may try to tell you who you should be, but remember: Your true identity comes from God. You are His child, loved, forgiven, and full of purpose! May the experience your loving presence, advance in wisdom and grow in your love. Our children’s future is in your hand, and yet we have own role to play in shaping that future. Help us to be true to our responsibility so that we may assist them in responding to your graces and thus to become what we want them to be.

I am the founder and overseer of the Love United Connecting Children Worldwide Mentorship Program. I will share my experience working with young children. I first, will give honor to God for giving me this vision, and secondly, for entrusting me to mentor children around the world. I first launched this program at City Hope Church, Congo Town, Monrovia, Liberia. It was such a blessing working with these precious children. They were open to receive the teachings and message of the gospel. My interaction with them helped them to believe in themselves. One of the lessons taught is about self-identity, seeing oneself in the image of Christ Jesus. When faced with challenges, many children struggle with their self-identity that God has called them to be. We are not defined by our circumstances, what others say about us, or how we were raised. We are defined by who God says we are. Children are empowered to see themselves through the eyes of God and nothing less. The more they listened to the teachings, the more they were inspired. It helps them to understand that in this life there will be challenges, but to count it all as joy. Challenges come to strengthen, but not to tear down. The teachings reinforce our self-conscience and assurance of our lives in this world. Our relationship with God is ruled by God-given frankness and sincerity by the power of God’s grace, not by human wisdom. These children now see their image through God because of His great mercy. He gives us new life by raising Jesus Christ from the dead and fills us with loving hope; therefore, we look forward to possessing the rich image of God through which we see ourselves. Isaiah 43:19, “Behold I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” The children of city hope also inspired me with their stories. They were open to sharing their thoughts and life experiences, which also connected with my story. My heart connects with their heart because we shared similar experiences. Our testimony is powerful because we experienced it not for ourselves, but for someone else. We are never alone because God is in the middle of everything.
